Rigid Support. Customized Comfort.
The Airfix NA540 provides the perfect middle ground between ease of use and high-performance mechanical support for an injured ankle. Designed specifically for medio-lateral stabilization, this two-shell orthosis holds the ankle in a secure functional position. The anatomically contoured plastic shells prevent dangerous side-to-side movements while still allowing the natural flex-extension needed for walking and recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I adjust the amount of support it provides?
Yes. The Airfix system uses shells lined with a combination of air, gel, and foam. You can regulate the quantity of air in the pads to increase or decrease the pressure, allowing you to customize the support level as your swelling reduces.
Is it comfortable for the ankle bones (malleolus)?
Absolutely. Inside the pads, there is a specialized gel area specifically positioned to offer soft, comfortable support directly on the malleolus, preventing the rigid plastic shells from rubbing against the bone.
Can I wear this inside my regular shoes?
Yes. The anatomical contour of the shells is designed to be low-profile. It fits comfortably inside most lace-up athletic shoes or wider casual shoes once the Velcro straps are tightened.
Will this prevent me from walking normally?
The brace is designed to stop medio-lateral (side-to-side) movement which causes re-injury, but it allows for flexo-extension (up and down) movement, which is the natural motion required for a normal walking gait.
